One week into high school and I’m having a blast. I went in totally excited and pumped but also super nervous. Jr High was so easy and I really wanted to make the right impression. Like all my friends I agonized over what to wear the first day, how to wear my hair, what to bring, etc. I thought about my outfit for an entire week to be honest and we texted back and forth all morning while we got ready for school talking about all of this. But when I got to school no one really looked at what you were wearing and it was more about your personality that people noticed. In the end I wore what made me feel most comfortable and I think by doing that it helped me feel more comfortable around people. It was a great first day.
There are a group of us that have been together since primary and although I am pretty social and have lots of friends it was them I wanted to start high school with. Kate, Roshan, Nadia and I all met at Hil’s and all went together to school. Having them with me made it so much easier. Having your close friends with you that first day just made it so much more comfortable. Plus you get to experience it all together and add to the great memories you already have with them.
But before high school even started, soccer tryouts began the week before. I am a Tier 1 soccer player and have played defence since I was about 8 years old. I am pretty confident in what I can do but when I stepped on the soccer field with those grade 12s I was totally intimidated. They were so good and I wanted even more to make this team. We had tryouts almost every day for a week in temperatures over 30 degrees. Final cuts were made at the field and when I heard my name called I didn’t even stand up until he called it again. I was so happy to make the team as a full player. It was such an amazing feeling. The Rookie treatment has already started! At lunch time on the day of our first game we had our faces painted and had to spend the rest of the day and then the game that night wearing the makeup. It was a little embarrassing at first but we knew every Rookie had to do it and the guys soccer and football team had to do a lot worse so we were OK with what we had to do in the end. It was just part of being on the team!
So almost a week in and I have to say high school so far has been pretty awesome! I have met so many new people already, gone to some parties, made a major sports team and attended some cool school events. The people I have met so far are so wicked and cool and I think this is going to be a wicked year. I figured out so far that high school is only going to be what I make it and my plan is to make it amazing.

This summer Clean Start teamed up with surf/fashion brand Billabong to be a part of their Sisterhood Ride Session wakeboard camp held in Muskoka, Ontario at Base Camp. On July 10th and August 14th Clean Start set-up a fun skin lesson for all of the female riders that attended. A total of 40 young and talented wakeboarders, over a course of 2 weekends had a blast as they played with products and asked skin questions – the girls also loved misting each other with All Over Clear! Clean Start also spent time on educating the young women about SPF importance especially when they are so active in the water!

Clean Start headed up north to Muskok, Ontario to visit Base Camp (a very cool wake boarding camp!) to take part in the ROXY Wake Board Camp for Girls from July 11-16th. Each year ROXY brings up a special group of girls between 12-18 years old for a full week of wake boarding fun!
This year Clean Start took part as we gave each girl a Welcome Pack on their arrival to get their week started off right. All participants received a Starter Kit, Clean Start water bottle and a funky branded t-shirt! The ROXY cabin also featured our, “Come Clean with Clean Start” video diary corner. Girls took our Fuji Flip and used it all week to show us how they enjoyed their experience. Our Skin Coach also headed up for a fun and rustic Skin Lesson where girls had tons of questions to ask about sunburns and SPF.
